Close up of a hawthorn Sheildbug

There has been too much “cute” going on with my blog lately – so I thought it was time to share something fascinating, but most definitely does not fall into the cute category!

This is the hawthorn sheild bug. They are common bugs found in Europe and are easily dustinguised by the brown/red and green markings.

The colour of this bug allows it to be camouflaged against the trees in which they feed.

However, this little guy was hanging out on my conservatory, which made for a handy backdrop, creating a great photograph!
